Again, nothing accentuates the holidays like Bubbles and we are going to discuss some French bubbles this week. What we are not discussing is Champagne. What!? French sparklers that aren’t Champagne? Yes Virginia, the French are so precise that even in their own country they differentiate between Champagne and non-Champagne sparklers.
Welcome to Crémant! Produced in 1 of 7 specific French regions outside the Champagne region but using the traditional method. Crémant is usually produced from the grapes local to where it is being made and is generally fruitier and fresher than its Champagne cousin due to shorter aging requirements. It is also usually a little less expensive than its French cousin.
While we don’t have a Crémant from each of the 7 different French regions we do have several examples to enjoy, including one from outside France in Luxembourg. Swing by and invite one of these effervescent lovelies to your holiday celebration.
